Ramses

Wingless Edenite · Exile of Pitthom

Ramses was once Dominus of House Judah and judged in Daun’s name for six hundred years. Now he lives wingless among the exiles of Pitthom, the marshy lowlands below Eden, where the punishment for sedition is wings shorn and banishment.

He is a giant of a man, bald, with a wild dirty-blond beard. His shoulders still reach for the wings that are gone. In Pitthom he raises his son Judah, keeps his silence, and teaches him to hunt.

“Keep going! Fatigue is not your enemy—hesitation is.”— Ramses, Chapter 6
